The Harpo Foundation’s Emerging Artist Residency Fellowship

The Harpo Foundation’s Emerging Artist Residency Fellowship at the Santa Fe Art Institute (SFAI) was established in 2013 to provide an annual opportunity to an emerging visual artist 25 years and older who needs time and space to explore ideas and start new projects…Living and studio space is located within a nearly 17,000 square foot complex designed by renowned Mexican architect, Ricardo Legoretta…There are no requirements on the work produced during their time at SFAI.

One Fellowship is awarded annually to emerging artists who demonstrate:
~Strong artistic ability and promise
~An evolving practice this is at a pivotal moment in its development

GlogauAIR Artists in Residence Program

GlogauAIR offers the use of a studio space in a superb location in Berlin and a unique experience taking part in the residency program. A base in Berlin to be able to visit the city and its thousand cultural venues and a place where other artists are living a similar experience in an atmosphere of friendship and collaboration.

There are 10 studios distributed in 2 floors. Each floor has shared kitchen, shower, WC and WIFI, basic expenses (maintenance, gas, electricity, and internet) are included.

Artists from all artistic disciplines (installation, video art, sculpture, architecture, electronic music, painting, drawing, performance, photography, net art, etc.) are invited to send us a proposal.

Residency duration: 3 months minimum to 6 months maximum

The MacDowell Colony Fellowships

The MacDowell Colony is the nation’s leading artist colony. The Colony nurtures the arts by offering creative individuals of the highest talent an inspiring environment in which they can produce enduring works of the imagination.

The Colony was founded in 1907 by composer Edward MacDowell and Marian MacDowell, his wife. It was the first artist colony in the United States.

Writers, visual artists, composers, filmmakers, playwrights, interdisciplinary artists, and architects come from all parts of the United States and abroad.

MacDowell encourages applications from artists representing the widest possible range of perspectives and demographics. Emerging and established artists may apply in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theatre, and visual arts. Applicants who are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree programs as of the date of application are ineligible for a residency and therefore cannot apply. Doctoral candidates who have finished all coursework may apply.

There are no residency fees. Artists are responsible for the cost of travel to and from the Colony. We are pleased to offer stipends to artists in all artistic disciplines so that they may take advantage of a residency at the Colony.

Venice Artist Residencies

Founded in 1969, the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica is the premier university program in Venice for Printmaking and Book Arts, as well as the most established and equipped studio for professional and practicing artists.


The Scuola has 8 etching presses, 1 lithographic press, 1 vertical woodcut press,1 Vandercook letterpress, aquatint box, and, in a separate serigraphy studio, exposure unit and 2 serigraphy tables.


In addition, 2 drawing/painting studios accommodate up to 8 artists, and our Graphic Design computer room has 20 iMacs to be used by resident artists in digital imaging, as well as film editing.

Throughout the year, the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica offers Residency Programs for professional and established artist, as well as for scholars.

Arts Letters & Numbers Residency Program

Arts Letters & Numbers was founded in 2011. At that point the summer workshop was the driving force of the organization. When the facilities grew so did the program. In 2015 the first Artist in Residence arrived.
 
Residencies may be from 1 week to 12 weeks. All applications are reviewed on a case by case basis.
 
Shared accommodations sleeps 2 to 4 people $175/week. Private rooms $275/week. There are three shared bathrooms in the house. The kitchen and fridges are shared. There is a large industrial 6 burner stove for use by all residents. Although residents are responsible for their own meals, it is often the case that everyone in the house gathers to cook and share dinners together.

There are a limited number of Residency Work Scholarships available. Scholarships are only for residencies 8 weeks or longer. Please enquire if you are interested in work exchange discount.

The Luminary~ Call for 2018 Residency Applications

In 2018, The Luminary will accept twelve residents in three phases: April and May; June and July; and September and October. Residencies are two weeks up to six weeks in duration and each resident will receive a $500 stipend plus additional project support, spacious private accommodations, shared studio space, and connections with local artists, curators and galleries. Each resident is expected to work towards an exhibition, publication, institutional collaboration or other public program during their residency.

Applications are due September 15th, 2017 for residencies taking place throughout 2018.

La Maison Verte Residency~ Open Call Year Round

La Maison Verte accommodates up to 3 artists at the same time. The house comprises 3 individual bedrooms, 1 kitchen, 1 communal room, and a shared bathroom. The house is furnished and has available for your use kitchen utensils, dishes, sheets, bath towels, a washing machine and also internet connection and a telephone line. It will be understood that communal spaces (kitchen, living room, garden, bathroom) will be respected and put back in order after each personal use (replacing equipment used, washing-up, cleaning, etc…) For non-French speakers, English and Spanish are also spoken.
Studio/ workspace Live-work shared studio spaces in the house. According to their projects, artists can also work in the Botanical Garden.
Fees and support A contribution of 400 euros per month is asked of each artist and any accompanying person to participate in the running costs of the house. Once the artist is selected, we send a letter of invitation that allows each artist to find the funding necessary to come to the residency.

• Develop and form new perspectives and output methods of work through continuous traveling between several residencies within Japan. Therefore, it is desirable for applicants to set up detailed objectives in the applications.
• Compile comprehensive perspectives by documenting practices and writing journals every day during the residency period in Japan.
• Describe findings and future plans to others to receive feedback at the final exhibition and presentation at the end of this program.

Residencies~ Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill

Artist in Residency Program 2017
Residencies are open to writers, painters, printmakers, sculptors, musicians, ceramicists and farmers.  Each participating artist will be required to give a reading or a lecture and gallery exhibition or performance to the Castle Hill community and the general public.

The Castle Hill Campus has a well-equipped ceramic studio and houses electric and gas kilns, a salt kiln, and a wood-fired kiln. It has a darkroom (October, November) and a media/computer lab. Life-modeling sessions are held on a weekly basis. The Edgewood Farm Campus has a well-equipped printmaking studio as well as studio space alongside living spaces for painters, photographers and writers, and an outdoor work-space for sculptors.

The residency programs are offered during 2 terms each year in the spring and fall for three months periods. Time frames will range from one month to three month, plus week-long retreats in September.
