As a fully accredited member of the Alliance of Artists Communities (http://www.artistcommunities.org/) and RES ARTIS: International Association of Residential Art Centres (http://www.resartis.org/en/), the Anderson Center provides retreats of two to four weeks duration from May through October each year to enable artists, writers, and scholars of exceptional promise and demonstrated accomplishment to create, advance, or complete works-in-progress.
APPLICATION DEADLINES For residencies during the months May, June, July, August, September, and October apply by 11:59 pm CST on February 15, 2020. Applications must be completed before this deadline in order to be considered in the judging period.
LOCATION: The Anderson Center campus is on 350 acres of the historic Tower View Estate, built by Alexander Pierce Anderson between 1915 and 1922, on the western edge of Red Wing, Minnesota (population 16,500). Many of the buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Center is approximately 60 minutes southeast of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
ACCOMMODATIONS: Each resident is provided room, board, and workspace for the length of the residency period in the historic Tower View residence. Visual artists are provided a 15′ x 26′ studio and are responsible for supplying their own materials. Other workspaces on site include a cone 10 gas kiln and electric kilns, an open-air metalsmith facility, and a print studio (with a Vandercook 219 letterpress and a Charles Brand-like etching press). Practice space is also available for dancers and choreographers.
Costs include $20 application fee, travel expenses, and supplies
